WHAT I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I REQUEST AN STIS CONTRACT FOR MY STUDENT?

WHAT I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I REQUEST AN STIS CONTRACT FOR MY STUDENT?

Students that will be missing school 1 or more days
or students leaving the country will require a Short Term Independent Study Contract.
Parents must contact Staff in the attendance office
No less then 5 School DAYS prior to the first day of the STIS.
*Please email Stacy Cooper at sacooper@capousd.org to
request the STIS

Steps to Complete a Short-Term Independent Study (STIS) Contract
  • Parents must email the Attendance Office at least 5 school days prior to the first day of STIS.
    • Please provide the exact dates your student will be absent so the STIS contract can be created.
    • Chromebook Reminder: If your student will be out of the country, they must use their own personal device to access Canvas. School-issued Chromebooks may not be taken outside the U.S.
    • Look for an email from Informed K-12 — both the parent and student must sign and submit the form. Once submitted, teachers will assign the STIS work.
    • All STIS classwork will be posted on Canvas only. The student will need Wi-Fi access. If any papers or packets are needed, teachers will provide them before the student leaves.
    • All assigned work must be completed before the student returns to school.
    • Parents and students should maintain communication — contact the office for contract questions and teachers for assignment questions.
